Google Zeitgeist 2006, top ten most searched words on google
Google Zeitgeist is a service developed by Google that provides information regarding the terms of the words most of intenet users search on search engines.
The data is supplied in 5 different classifications:
What's Hot, Current Events, Milestones, Entertainment and Sports.
Google attaches great importance to these rankings considering that data analysis can detect important factors population of the Internet (ie more than 1 billion users) as the degree of preparedness of the navigators.
The most searched words in 2006 would be the following:
1. bebo
2. myspace
3. world cup
4. metacafe
5. radioblog
6. wikipedia
7. video
8. rebelde
9. mininova
10. wiki
The ranking has aroused suspicion particularly to insiders. The data trace the identikit of un'internauta quite prepared, who attends a lot of the social networking sites (like bebo), is very active in the network load and watch videos, listen to streaming music, do research on wikipedia.
Another oddity is the absence in the rankings of words like sex, money, god. Someone is sure that these rankings are filtered out by Google and that therefore the real data are quite different. But what do you think?
