Silhouette protagonist of modern graphic design

Silhouette protagonist of modern graphic design The silhouette is a design technique is widely used in modern design, he is credited with giving the composition a considerable charm capturing the viewer forced to add missing information to the image.

As a gauge, a perimeter, a technique may seem simple to perform ¬ but what is not. It is not easy to make a scene by communicating visually readable description, emotion, mood and energy with nothing more than a profile. In silhouette the outline is the "shape" the content and the "substance", a substance is absent and so indefinite and infinite.

silhouette - umbrellaman From the design viewpoint, the small number of elements and being a free person and detail of information, requires special attention to its location in the compositional space. Nona is advisable to position the subject right in the middle, much better on one of the "third party" clearing the background by the presence of disturbing elements.

For anyone interested in this fascinating world of shadows, of whites and blacks, 99 recommend the book published by Silhouette http://www.debutpublications.co.uk/ where between 176 pages with illustrations and photographs of some works can be admired more prestigliosi names of graphic design including: One Huge Eye Engrafik, Go Media, 10 Yetis, Keiichi Nishimura.

Beautiful this post, Paul! The technique you described is really fascinating. It is not easy to express feelings and emotions through a profile. The user is "forced" to fill the form with the substance in the reading of the visual message and is thus called upon to put an extreme focus on the decoding of the same. I think in a certain way the reading itself is greatly customized.

I'm thinking that the silhouette technique could be used effectively in school. In boys would have favored the ability of observation, reflection, analysis and synthesis. Do not you think?

But you know you make me the desire to attend a course in web graphics? Who knows that sooner or later it does not really hurt ... I do not get along in the non-graphical web), you know?

annarita thanks, I'm sure you'd be a good designer does not know you very well but some prerequisites that I already belong to you: to love the sciences, mathematics, good taste, a huge need to communicate, an innate curiosity. And if you also have artistic inspiration and a little dose of insanity, then the picture is complete. Thank you for Tumblr ;-)

I really like the silhouettes of women, so 'is true that once I made a poster ¬ wonderful thing ... looked like the Charlie's Angels, pear ² I put a pink one blue and one yellow. If you have many fonts graphs of this type that are still good to use, I find it DaFont.qualcosa taken from the site to your bookmarks.
    Just ask : D

Paul, the characteristics that you mentioned belong to me surely:). Do you think I was very torn between the studies which I then followed and the artistic. My mom tells me that drew 4-5 years (well according to him, mother's heart, you know!) Faces of people. I had a fixation at that age. I know so much that instead of the spoon as a child I preferred pens and pencils. De gustibus!
Anyway I went to school very well in art and even now I like to draw ... ... .. I have a valuable aid for drawing geometric figures on the blackboard during lessons in geometry. You should see my freehand circle: they shoot out of the performance to impress the kids at school who always cry ohhhhhh! But as it is perfect!
Well we use all possible means to motivate ...
    But enough, perhaps I'm bored.

@ Annarita not bore me at all, is indeed a welcome distraction from work stress.
Have you ever investigated genialogico on your tree? It may be that one of your ancestors there is a protogiottesco, a follower / employee of Giotto, as the circle freehand ...
Not me, freehand almost zero, but when I put hand to the brackets, line, compass and mother line the geometrical design and the vanishing point had no secrets for me. ;-D
