At meetings with Demo.com € ™ s innovation, Earthmine Platform

A project with great potential but very, very ambitious. In this way you can see the "world" would be needed millions of photographs, not to mention the complexity of the software.
Of course if we do ... it would be the end for Google Earth ...

In fact even Google has a similar project, the Google Street Viewer.
Examples here: http://streetviewr.com/

I sincerely hope that the project EarthMine to have a greater spread. Google should think about organizing well the results of research, before pulling out dozens of applications from the cylinder with a search engine does not have anything to do. Obviously, this is just a 'personal opinion yanked.

@ Pigrecoemme: James, thanks for reporting, it's hard to stay below all projects of the big G and I had escaped.
@ Frazer: I agree with you, among other things, I'm not very excited about the expansion on all fronts ITC Google, ¬ anza ...

Well, honestly disagree on what you think of google. I think it's an extraordinary hotbed of everything that revolves around the Web. Suffice to say that it is now widespread in all branches, including European ... and the fact that x must have the attributes to work them, it means that things are not giving birth due to chance, it the result of a person, but in a super team ... I do not think has never misfired mountain view ... or am I wrong?
and then, who said that in addition to the search engine should not do anything else?

@ Teo
Far be it from me to say that the team of Mountain View is not responsible!
My opinion is that, before churning out dozens of applications, may try to improve search results. It happens many times a particular thing and try to find anything on the first page.
In addition, new projects have BigG immediate release, while the remaining projects that have less visibility in the shade of a giant like Google.
If both platforms EarthMine Stree Viewer and had the same potential, I doubt that the first is given too much visibility. For this reason I hope that the project has EarthMine real attributes, ¬ thing to be able to emerge for their quality.

to churn out dozens of applications as you say is one thing that makes Google as a company, but behind the name of google cha ¨ so many people that can safely take care of everything and even more.
That information retrieval is definitely the highlight of google and frankly I do not understand what it means to "write one thing and another comes out ..." cha is behind not only a team of developers, but to scholars of operational research that you do not even know! put it on the staff, our research does not make sense. the web is more true, the engine is not us ... and Google knows what he does.
Google as a company and as people who work there (and I do not mean to catalogers of sites, those paid from a distance ...) is something monstrous .. I can tell you which there is people who bangs his head on the books and the search algorithms for years, and I have to figure it took just a few cnferenze ego.
The search engine improves more and more, with everything that the web is growing dramatically. I think the world of the web runs through them. the rest of us with the sheer normality.
This is my thought, quite frankly,
but perhaps I am too partisan ...
October 11th, 2007 at 00:45
We're going off topic, however, explain what I mean:
Google (as a society) is scary, I think that nobody but them knows how many people are behind us. And it is also true that the algorithms they use are something terribly complex.
Having said that, and so far I agree with you, I believe that a search engine (as a web service, not as a society) should be specifically designed for the needs of users, from your words that the normality is unimportant, the normality that turns the web.
Now, my opinion is that, since the power of Google (as a company) is born from the search engine, this should be further enhanced.
Changing the subject, if Google and any company B qualitatively the same as creating a program at the same time, is the fact that Google will have to be promoted over.
My question is this: Why not leave room for other projects on various fronts ITC and devote more time to the development of search engine, although it is the most used around the world, is not the best?
This is my opinion, are the normal users who do the web, not the big companies that live by them. Then, the sympathy is subjective!

I thank you very much for your contribution, and to say that I understand Theo of his admiration for Google and for the many gurus who are part of, indeed is an admiration which I agree, but how can you not cheer for giving birth to a mouse a brilliant idea despite the cumbersome shadow of the G.

I realize that I was going off topic. cmq conclude in brief:
- Sympathy ovviam is subjective, on this we agree COMPLETION
- That is not the best engine rich we do not agree, but compared to the first point I think we could be based on objective data
- The fact that simultaneously with another company google pulls out a program the same ... well, it is obvious that google takes over, but I think last year the community of "normal" CIOA cm ² ° all we pulled out of interesting projects, which are grown and become famous.
- My final reference meant to google that google runs the web with its technology, without which we could not grow and spread ourselves ... I spoke of the scholars behind Google, but I wanted to say that not only run the search engine but everything they produce. unlike our own that we can be more or less developers, the cha ¬ is a team that always makes a difference cmq.
@ Fm
I cheer for the mouse
